Robert Street Bridge Construction Update Week #8

The Robert Street Bridge formwork/decking was installed and rebar placement for the deck was started. Good progress was made with favorable weather and a lot of manpower.

There were over 20 workers on the project last Saturday.

The goal is to pour the main bridge deck this Thursday pending weather. This pour is a major milestone for the project. The work will start early on Thursday with dump trucks and equipment getting ready for the pour before 6 a.m.

This work is done early in the morning to take advantage of lower temperatures which are better for both the worker's health and the concrete quality.

Motorists should be alert and watch for ready-mix trucks entering and exiting the site at each end of the bridge. These trucks will be hauling in over 45 loads of concrete weighing roughly 1.8 million pounds of mix. There will also be concrete surface repairs on-going at the piers so boat traffic should watch for barges on the move. There will be some flagging for concrete trucks on Thursday at adjacent intersections.

Roadway traffic patterns will remain the same.
