Update: Snow Emergency operations

Update: The Public Works crews are completing another round of scraping and salting the highways, collectors, and secondary roadways this evening. Crews will head out again at 2 a.m. Wednesday, after the snow has subsided, to perform a full city-wide cleanup operation. The Department will maintain an on-call crew to manage the highways, secondary roads and emergency service areas overnight should they need to be addressed. .. , . .

The full city cleanup generally takes 6 to 10 hours depending on snow totals and existing conditions. We expect to have the highways, secondary roads, school areas, and emergency service area completed before the morning commute and work our way into residential streets shortly thereafter and finish with alleyways at the end.

The downtown streets will be plowed into the parking lanes for the day Wednesday and depending on snow accumulation, existing temperatures, and the timing of the next round of snow, a downtown pickup may occur early Thursday (1/11/2024) at 12 a.m. or another full city cleanup will take place Friday (1/12/2024) and downtown pick up will take place in the early morning hours of Saturday (1/13/2024).
