Get ready to relive your childhood memories and enjoy an evening of laughter, camaraderie, and playful competition at Adult Recess, taking place on Friday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jones Park. This one-of-a-kind event, organized by the Parks and Recreation Department, is designed exclusively for adults aged 21 and older, offering a unique opportunity to unwind, socialize and participate in classic recess activities.
Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with old favorites, as staff have gone the extra mile to curate a soundtrack that perfectly complements the fun and carefree atmosphere of the evening.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and kicks off with an exciting game of kickball at 6:30 p.m., followed by a thrilling round of dodgeball at 7:45 p.m. Attendees can choose to come alone or bring along their friends for a fantastic time filled with laughter and friendly competition. The team formation process will evoke a sense of nostalgia, as chosen captains will take the lead in creating teams in the traditional "boy-girl" style reminiscent of schoolyard games.
But the fun doesn't stop there! Adult Recess offers a variety of side activities that cater to all interests. Engage in friendly matches of spikeball, challenge your strategic thinking with giant Connect 4 and giant Jenga, test your accuracy in ladder ball and bocce ball, or showcase your bean bag tossing skills in a game of cornhole. The event promises a diverse range of games to keep everyone entertained throughout the evening.
No recess is complete without refreshments, and Adult Recess has you covered. The beloved General's concession stand will be open, offering a delectable selection of food and beverages. And for those looking to unwind with a cold drink, don't miss the special treat of $1 beers to add an extra layer of enjoyment to the event.
Participation is hassle-free, as no prior registration is required. Simply bring your ID to obtain a wristband and sign a waiver at the welcome table upon arrival. While the event promises endless fun, please note that it will be canceled in the event of rain.
